Regulatory Operations Officer

Licensing and Accreditation – Building Licensing & Building and Development Certifiers Registration

Grade: Clerk Grade 5/6

Location: Parramatta (Regular office attendance required; flexible arrangements available within operational requirements)

About the Role

We are seeking proactive and adaptable Regulatory Operations Officers to join our high-performing teams within Licensing and Accreditation. These roles will support one of our two core areas: Building Licensing or Building and Development Certifiers Registration. These roles will operate in a high-volume, customer-focused environment and be responsible for assessing and determining complex and escalated licence and registration applications in accordance with one of the following key pieces of legislation:

  • Home Building Act 1989
  • Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018

You will contribute to broader team efforts, including handling high-profile and sensitive matters, supporting continuous improvement, and enhancing regulatory outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and determine complex and escalated licence or registration applications.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with strong attention to detail.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively, especially when dealing with sensitive or high-profile matters.
  • Provide expert advice and evaluation of complex licensing and registration matters in line with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Interpret and apply a wide range of legislation to support sound regulatory outcomes.
  • Deliver quality customer service in roles where decisions impact individuals or businesses.
  • Support, mentor, and guide team members to achieve shared goals and business outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and respond to evolving customer needs.

  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with a focus on prioritising tasks effectively.

  • Proven capability to quickly learn and apply technical knowledge to licensing decisions.
  • A flexible and positive approach to teamwork, consistently contributing to group objectives.
  • Sound analytical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in a regulatory, licensing or compliance environment.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Loris, Objective, GLS, Amanda, and Trim is highly desirable.

Work Environment

We support a hybrid working model with flexible arrangements, though this role is primarily office-based. A Talent Pool will be created for up to 18 months to fill future temporary and ongoing roles.
