About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and qualified Japanese language teacher to join our dynamic and collaborative teaching team for a 12-month maternity leave replacement. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Stage 4 Japanese and a strong commitment to fostering language acquisition and cultural understanding in students.

This role is part of a supportive faculty that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience differentiating instruction for both single-sex classes (boys and girls) and mixed-ability groups.
  • Is confident in delivering engaging and effective Stage 4 Japanese lessons, with a focus on building foundational language skills.
  • Can integrate technology to enhance student engagement and support interactive language learning.
  • Is willing to contribute to faculty discussions, curriculum development, and extra-curricular programs such as language clubs, cultural events, or competitions.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, including proficiency in email and a willingness to develop expertise in the Google Suite.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to teaching and learning.

This is a temporary part-time position (2 or 3 days) commencing in Term 1, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Stage 4 Japanese lessons, focusing on foundational language skills and cultural understanding.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and success.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support language development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to a cohesive and innovative language faculty.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance teaching practice and stay current with language education strategies.
  • Support extra-curricular activities related to Japanese language and culture, such as language clubs or cultural events.

Requirements:

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and experience in teaching Japanese.
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to student success.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with NSW Curriculum and Assessment framework.
  • Working with Children Check clearance.
