The Orthopaedic Department at Sydney Children's Hospital, Westmead is seeking a Locum Visiting Medical Officer for 6 monthly appointments to join their team as soon as possible.

Delivering contemporary and comprehensive specialist paediatric orthopaedic trauma services designed to achieve optimal outcomes for children across NSW. This role draws on strong experience with local referral pathways and prior training in paediatric orthopaedic trauma.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality paediatric orthopaedic trauma care within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Supporting and educating clinicians across multiple disciplines to ensure safe, evidence-based clinical practice.
  • Supervising multiple monthly trauma surgery theatre lists and outpatient fracture clinics.
  • Participating in the on-call roster to provide timely and expert trauma care.

This position is ideal for a clinician committed to excellence in paediatric trauma management, collaborative practice, and ongoing professional development.

  • Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist Orthopaedic trauma services for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist (Orthopaedic Surgeon) and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  • Current experience in local NSW referral pathways for paediatric trauma.
  • Previous experience & training in paediatric Ortho Trauma.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  • Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
  • Availability to supervise trauma surgery theatre list & outpatient fracture Clinics.
