As a result of a secured engagement with one of our National Security partners, Helix requires an Infrastructure Engineer to join us on a long-term contract.

We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer with proven experience of solving complex problems, who thrives working as part of a team to push boundaries and is passionate about leveraging technology to produce world-class outcomes for critical federal government organisations. 

Infrastructure Engineer essential experience & capability

  • Working within a VMware Deployed Software Defined Data Center (SDDC)
  • Previous deployment of hardware into a datacentre
  • Deployment and configuration of centralised management capabilities to manage equipment e.g. firmware updates
  • Working with a CMDB to track infrastructure assets
  • Racking and stacking of hardware
  • Cable management
  • Identifying attributes of the hardware e.g. HVAC, power requirements etc.
  • Developing repeatable install procedures for the environment
  • Building capabilities that will help manage the environment e.g. firmware updates
  • NV2 clearance is a minimum requirement for this environment

Infrastructure Engineer desirable experience:

  • Generalist ICT Skills in either Windows or Linux
  • Experience deploying and managing HPE hardware
  • Experience working with network storage technologies
  • Working in Agile teams
  • Working in a project environment – below the line
  • Familiarity with infrastructure health monitoring tools and best practice
  • Qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently, and within a multi-discipline team.
  • Proven ability to mentor and influence team members.
  • Proven ability to work to a project schedule and achieve successful client-focused outcomes
  • Demonstrable experience proving a customer focus and passion for delivery
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to conduct research, as well as rapidly learn new concepts and tasks, with a view of improving technical knowledge and skills.
