Join a high-performing infrastructure team delivering secure, mission-critical VMware environments within a classified Defence and National Security program.

As the Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining VMware virtualisation infrastructure that support critical digital platform services.

  • Long-term contract through to June 2026 with month extensions
  • Onsite in Canberra, minimum NV1 Clearance is mandatory
  • Exciting Defence and National Security project
Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake the support, management, administration, and design of VMware server and desktop (Horizon) virtual environments across multiple secure domains
  • Upgrade, patch, and enhance VMware environments to ensure stable delivery of both virtual desktops and servers
  • Install and configure ICT hardware, leveraging VMware tools, services, and components to enable advanced features and seamless end-user experiences across BAU and project environments
  • Maintain and optimise VMware environments by developing technical documentation, applying security patches, resolving incidents, and implementing automation and best practices to enhance system availability, efficiency, and security.
  • Collaborate and mentor across teams, sharing knowledge, supporting cross-skilling initiatives, and managing multiple priorities across business-as-usual operations and project delivery.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven expertise across the VMware suite, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and Horizon
  • Strong grounding in data centre and infrastructure engineering, with experience implementing, maintaining, and optimising virtualised environments
  • Demonstrated capability in availability, infrastructure, and problem management
  • Ability to design, document, and deliver enterprise-level virtualisation and infrastructure solutions
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent certification highly regarded
  • Experience working within secure ICT environments and supporting classified systems desirable
