Infrastructure Engineer

Kinetic IT is seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join our on-site team supporting a Federal Government customer. You'll help manage and maintain a large hybrid environment covering on-premises systems, virtualisation platforms, and Azure cloud services.

This is a great opportunity to work in a complex and secure environment, supporting critical infrastructure while developing your skills across cloud and modern technologies alongside an experienced Kinetic IT team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support infrastructure across HPE hardware, Windows Server, and VMware.
• Maintain datacentre operations and hardware lifecycle activities.
• Administer backups and recovery solutions (Commvault and Azure Backup).
• Support HPE storage and blade chassis environments.
• Collaborate with cloud and network teams to maintain hybrid integrations with Azure.
• Operate within ITIL and SIAM frameworks for incident, change, and problem management.

What you'll bring to the table:

You're an experienced Infrastructure or Systems Engineer who thrives in enterprise environments. You enjoy balancing hands-on technical work with collaboration and problem-solving, and you're comfortable supporting critical infrastructure for government clients.

• Strong experience across Windows Server 2016–2022
• Proven hands-on expertise with HPE hardware and datacentre operations
• Solid experience managing VMware virtualisation (ESXi, vCenter)
• Knowledge of Commvault Backup and HPE storage solutions
• Familiarity with Azure Backup, Azure Storage, and hybrid integrations
• Understanding of infrastructure fabric and network management principles
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
• Certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, or VMware VCP are highly regarded
• NV1 Security Clearance – as you will be supporting a Federal Government customer
