About our role:

The Data Analyst (Payroll) will be instrumental in supporting a strategic industrial relations initiative by ensuring the precise interpretation and application of Enterprise Agreements within payroll systems and processes. Embedded within the Human Resources – IR/Payroll division, you'll collaborate closely with project teams, payroll, HR managers, and consultants to drive compliance and enhance operational efficiency across the business.

In this role, you'll analyze payroll data to uncover discrepancies and identify opportunities for improvement, provide expert support in SAP payroll configuration and reporting, and develop advanced Excel models for payroll analysis and compliance tracking. Working alongside HR, IR, and site management teams, you'll help align payroll practices with industrial instruments, prepare insightful reports for stakeholders, and support system testing for EA-related changes. Responsibilities include:

  • Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, Awards, and employment contracts to payroll processes.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide expert-level support in SAP payroll configuration and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain complex Excel models for payroll analysis, auditing enterprise agreement conditions and entitlements and compliance tracking.
  • Collaborate with HR, IR, and Site Management teams to ensure alignment of payroll practices with industrial instruments.
  • Provide technical advice on pay rates, allowances, penalties, and entitlements under EAs.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of payroll procedures and controls.
  • Prepare reports and insights for project stakeholders on payroll compliance and EA interpretation.
  • Support system testing and validation for EA-related changes in payroll software.

About you:

This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a passion for payroll compliance and data analysis. Candidates must have:

  • a diploma in Payroll, HR, or Law (or equivalent relevant industry experience).
  • 5–7 years' experience in HR or IR, with demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
  • strong understanding of the Fair Work Act, NES, and payroll-related legislation.
  • proven experience with SAP payroll systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, macros, and data modeling).
  • experience in payroll remediation or compliance projects.
  • high attention to detail, strong communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and handle sensitive payroll data with professionalism and integrity.
