About the role

As a Field Technician, you'll monitor, adjust, and optimise landfill gas extraction systems to maximise methane capture. You'll be challenged daily, balancing the health of the landfill gas field and maximising extraction. You will troubleshoot extraction systems and collaborate closely with LGI's operations and engineering teams to ensure systems run safely and efficiently.

While previous experience in tuning landfill gas fields is preferred, it is not essential as we offer on-the-job training. The role involves travel and focuses on LGI's projects based in NSW/ACT, with occasional travel to other Company sites in QLD.

  • Comfort working with data, instruments, and technology.
  • Eagerness to learn, follow safety protocols, and work at landfills.

What you will be doing

  • Monitor and adjust landfill gas extraction wells to optimise methane capture and maintain target pressure/vacuum levels.
  • Conduct system monitoring using SCADA, field instruments, and portable gas analysers to track flow rates, gas composition, and performance metrics.
  • Document all tuning activities and report deviations to maintain compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, including equipment faults, leaks, and blockages, to ensure reliable system performance.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to support landfill gas flares and power stations.
  • Maintenance and housekeeping (i.e. weed control, cleaning, tidying, etc) at gas fields.
  • Assist, at times, with the delivery of new installations, extensions, and repairs of landfill gas systems and associated infrastructure.
