**Director of Clinical Training (Rural Emergency Medicine Training Pathway)

- Present funding is to 30/06/2027 with the position subject to extension(s) if ongoing funding is secured.
This position is offered at 0.4 FTE however, has the option for two 0.2 FTE job share split:
- Pathway DCT (0.2 FTE) – focusing on pathway development, strategic oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
- Education DCT (0.2 FTE) – focusing on education, supervision, and trainee support.
A unique and exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and dynamic Emergency Medicine (EM) physician to join WA Country Health Service (WACHS) as Director of Clinical Training (Rural Emergency Medicine Training Pathway). This role is aligned with the WACHS Central Medical Education Unit, with flexibility for remote work across WA.
This role provides the opportunity to develop the future senior EM workforce for regional Western Australia (WA) through a project that involves the development of a rural-focused training pathway for rural linked EM trainees in WA who intend to undertake future specialist EM practice in a rural setting.
The Director(s) will work with a dedicated project officer to establish relationships with rural and metropolitan stakeholders to: identify potential rotations suitable to meet the training requirements of FACEM trainees; expand the number of WACHS sites accredited for FACEM training; develop and support innovative education and supervisory models; increase the number of trainees spending prolonged training time in rural EM settings including those participating in non-ACEM vocational training pathways, coordinate immersive and linked EM training pathways; and investigate metropolitan EM training in-reach for rural FACEM trainees.
You will work closely with existing WACHS Directors of EM Training (DEMTs), other WACHS medical vocational training pathways, and WACHS Medical Education Registrars to design and deliver the project.
The successful applicant must have knowledge of ACEM accreditation and training requirements and be willing to travel in rural WA.
The Ideal Applicant Will Possess The Following
- Unconditional general and Specialist registration by the Medical Board of Australia
- Fellowship of the Australian Emergency Medicine College (ACEM).
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge, clinical experience and skills in the identified specialty area.
- Current or relevant specialist experience in Australia.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including reporting, negotiation and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated a commitment to rural medical education.
