About Finance

As part of the Capability and Performance Division, the Finance Directorate drives the delivery of financial planning, management, and accounting services for CITS. It plays a critical role in enabling strategic decision-making by providing expert advice, guidance, and reporting that supports the achievement of financial business plans and operational outcomes.

About the role

Are you a strategic financial leader capable of delivering comprehensive financial services across a diverse and dynamic organisation?

We are seeking an experienced 
Executive Director Finance (CFO)
 who is capable of influencing strategic discussions and outcomes which contribute to sustainable strategic growth and delivery across CITS.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will work in collaboration with cross functional leaders, leading the department's financial strategy, governance and performance to support ongoing growth and transformation. In this pivotal role, you will champion sustainable and sector-leading financial management to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the department while influencing outcomes across a diverse and high-impact portfolio.

We are looking for a leader with:

  • Extensive experience in strategic financial management, preferably within government, with a strong knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice principles.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to set direction, build team capability, and foster a responsive work environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities, including negotiation, influence, and mentoring to support strategic partnerships and collaboration both internally and externally.

A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, business or equivalent, along with membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, or a similar professional body, is required for this role.

We have one full time, fixed term Senior Executive Service (SES) appointment available for up to five years.
