Join our team as a Senior Financial Modeller

Are you ready to shape the financial future of the Redlands Coast? We're seeking an experienced and analytical professional to deliver advanced modelling and financial insights that drive Redland City Council's strategic planning, budgeting, and decision-making. In this pivotal role, you'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure our long-term financial forecasts are robust, accurate, and aligned with Council's priorities. You'll also play a key role in uplifting capability within our Financial Planning Unit.

Your responsibilities will include:

Building and maintaining complex financial models to support long-term planning and budget processes.

Managing the Long-Term Financial Forecast and ensuring integration with Council's financial management system.

Analysing financial data to provide clear, actionable advice and recommendations.

Conducting scenario analysis to support budget deliberations, sustainability reviews, and strategic decision-making.

Preparing technical papers, model assumptions, policies, and reconciliations that ensure financial governance and compliance.

Contributing to capability building within the Financial Planning Unit by mentoring team members and sharing expertise.

Skills & Experience:

Proven experience delivering high-quality financial modelling and analysis in Local Government or a similarly complex and regulated environment.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and compliance requirements.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial modelling tools and systems (Finance One experience desirable).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.

Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Tertiary qualifications in Business or Accounting and membership (or eligibility) with CPA Australia or an equivalent professional body.

Eligibility:

Tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting (or equivalent) and membership/eligibility for CPA Australia or an equivalent professional body.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Criminal History check.
