About the role
The Place Management Coordinator is part of the Place & Events team at the City of Canada Bay. Reporting to the Manager, Place & Events, this role is responsible for delivering Council's place-making programs, which support economic development, arts and culture, and community renewal in key locations. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders including state government agencies, local businesses, and residents to respond to community needs and support successful project delivery.
Within the area of responsibility, this role will:
- Design, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of place-making strategies and programs that enhance community identity and engagement.
- Manage project budgets, including financial planning, monitoring expenditure, and overseeing both operational and capital costs.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities from Council, State and Federal governments, as well as private sector initiatives such as grants and sponsorships.
- Oversee contracts, tenders, and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and effective contractor performance.
- Supervise contractors, consultants, and staff as needed, ensuring timely delivery of work programs and achievement of place-making outcomes.
- Negotiate and manage partnerships with government agencies, businesses, and not-for-profit organisations to support and deliver place-making objectives.
- Lead stakeholder engagement and communication, fostering collaboration and a partnership approach to public art, place-making projects, and strategic initiatives.
About the person
The ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in fields such as place-making, cultural planning, public art, or economic development
- Experience in planning and delivering community or public art projects
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects at once, meeting deadlines, staying within budget, and achieving key goals
- Skilled in researching and analysing social, economic, and environmental data to help address community needs
- Proven experience in creating and implementing strategic plans at a local or place-based level
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in engaging with the community
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Holds a valid Class C driver's licence
- Holds a current Working With Children Check

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $119,127 to $136,881
