SMYA is an established leader in packaging and contract beverage filling in Australia and New Zealand and is a joint venture between two packaging leaders, San Miguel Corporation of the Philippines and Nihon Yamamura Glass of Japan.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us in our Plastics Manufacturing facility located in Wantirna South as the Die Setter/Afternoon Shift Team Leader.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is experienced in production environments with multiple machines running.

Responsibilities:

  • The Die Setter/shift team leader is responsible for all aspects and functions relating to production on the afternoon shift (3pm -11pm).
  • They will continually manage the staff and resources to ensure that production runs smoothly.
  • Perform quality checks and measurement calibrations as required.
  • Be able to problem solve.
  • Responsible for the setting up and operation of production machinery and equipment.
  • All round role which may include process work and packing of finished manufactured product.

The successful candidate:

  • Will have experience in a similar role.
  • Have experience in a plastics manufacturing.
  • Have die setting experience or mechanical aptitude (Extrusion Blow Moulding highly favourable).
  • Be able to lead and supervisor a team from diverse backgrounds.
  • Will be able to work in a fast pace production environment and troubleshoot.
  • Have experience with checking and measuring product to precise specifications with the use of tools such as calipers
  • Have a can do attitude and work towards solutions when problems arise
  • Have a strong understanding and focus on WHS
