Sheahan Built/Roma Containers are currently seeking a competent Metal Fabricator to join our team in Roma SW Queensland.

We are looking for candidates who posses a good understanding of the trade. Welding procedures must be of high quality, with reliable and thorough assembly & problem solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, assemble and weld structural reinforcing steel and heavy-gauge metal components
  • Cut, bend and shape steel according to technical drawings, blueprints and client specifications
  • Operate fabrication equipment including welders, plasma cutters, benders, overhead gantry cranes and forklifts
  • Carry out machine set-ups, changeovers and pre-start equipment checks
  • Repair and maintain fabrication steel products and components
  • Assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of production machinery
  • Participate in continuous improvement and workplace safety initiatives
  • Meet daily production targets and complete accurate production reports

Skills and experience required:

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in metal fabrication or structural steel work
  • Proficiency in welding, cutting and fabrication equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Current forklift licence desirable
  • Strong time management, safety awareness and ability to work independently or in a team
