Roobuck is a leading Australian provider of mining IoT solutions, intrinsically safe lighting equipment, and digital mine technologies. We specialise in developing cutting-edge wireless solutions for underground and open-cut mining operations, with a focus on improving miner safety and operational productivity.

Responsibilities:

· Design and optimize planar antennas, RIS, and PCB antennas for wireless communication systems.

· Develop and test power amplifiers to enhance RF system performance.

· Perform minor PCB design and layout using CAD tools, preferably Altium.

· Model and simulate RF signal transmission using HFSS or equivalent tools to ensure optimal system performance.

· Conduct testing and validation of RIS, antenna and RF systems using simulation tools and lab equipment.

· Ensure RF systems are robust and reliable for field deployment.

· Analyse and mitigate electromagnetic interference (EMI) to improve system reliability.

· Document design processes, test results, and system specifications for technical reports and compliance.

· Assist certification engineer with radio certifications, such as CE, FCC, and RCM.

· Work with microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, NRF, ESP32) and other embedded platforms for RF system integration.

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent industry experience.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in RF design.

· Proven track record of developing circuit boards for RF/microwave frequencies.

· R&D experience collaborating with researchers and engineers.

· Proficiency in MATLAB, HFSS, or equivalent RF simulation software.

· Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, including signal generators, network analysers, spectrum analysers, oscilloscope and antenna test chambers.

· Experience transitioning designs from prototype to production, including design for manufacture and global product certification.

· Proficient in English (written and verbal fluency).

· Full-time working rights in Australia.

Additional desired skills (not mandatory):

· Theoretical and practical understanding of different communication protocols used in embedded systems such as I2C, SPI, RS485, CAN etc.

· Experience in developing basic embedded firmware for lab hardware testing

· Theoretical and practical understanding of PCB layout techniques
