About the program:
AIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
Shape the future of Australia's air and missile defence
Join Lockheed Martin Australia as the V&V Lead on the AIR6500 Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS) – a next-generation capability integrating air, electromagnetic, and missile defence operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring successful system verification, validation, and ultimate customer acceptance.
As the V&V Lead, you will define, lead, and deliver a coordinated verification and validation strategy for AIR6500, working collaboratively with engineering, specialty, and product teams to ensure every requirement is verified, validated, and accepted.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the AIR6500 JABMS V&V strategy, ensuring contractual requirements are met.
- Oversee integrated V&V planning and formal working groups to deliver system acceptance.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering to establish and maintain the Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM).
- Drive a "left-shift" approach to testing, ensuring early identification of Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).
- Manage Control Accounts (cost, schedule, and scope), including risk and opportunity management.
- Define and secure the infrastructure, tooling, and resources needed to deliver V&V outcomes.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to a multi-site team across Australia and the US.
- Ensure the program has the right people, processes, and tools to deliver V&V success within an Agile framework.
About you:
You are a proven technical leader with deep experience in Defence Test & Evaluation, capable of driving complex V&V programs through to customer acceptance. You bring a structured yet adaptable approach, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the confidence to lead within a multi-domain, multinational environment.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or equivalent relevant experience in Defence projects.
- Expert knowledge of Defence Test & Evaluation principles.
- Advanced experience leading V&V or test programs within large, complex systems.
- Strong understanding of contractual and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Earned Value and Control Account Management (CAM).
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve verification outcomes.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to think laterally and act decisively.
- An active NV-1 security clearance and ability to handle Export Controlled information.
