Reporting to: DerDieDas Committee

Location: Mostly remote, occasional onsite visit in Bentleigh / Frankston for meetings

About DerDieDas

DerDieDas Inc. is a child safe, not-for-profit organisation offering German language opportunities for bilingual children with a German-speaking background. Our philosophy is to create a fun, welcoming and supportive environment for children to form friendships, practice their German and get to enjoy German cultural celebrations. We run two programs for pre-schools children (Rappelkiste and KiGa) and one program for primary school children (SchulPro). DerDieDas also organises and runs the German library "Bücherwald", an institution for Melbourne´s German-speaking community.

Purpose of the role

The SchulPro Program Owner is an Ordinary Member volunteering role, responsible to oversee the strategic aspects of the DerDieDas SchulProgramm. The role is the link between the SchulPro Coordinator (operations) and the DerDieDas Committee (management).

All Office Holders and Ordinary Members form the DerDieDas Committee, which makes strategic decisions on behalf of the organisation and overseas sub-committees and operational activities of the organisation.

Responsibilities and duties

You are expected to:

  • Follow and implement the , and all other organisational policies
  • Attend a minimum of four committee meetings per year or more, if required
  • Prepare for committee meetings by reading all circulated material prior and, if putting up own item for discussion, distributing the item at least one week prior to a meeting to all attendees
  • Develop and maintain (1) training concept for tutors, (2) teaching framework for the SchulPro, (3) a wellbeing and inclusion framework and toolkit
  • Quality assurance (responsibility for overseeing the quality of teaching and learning materials)
  • Oversight of SchulPro documentation (e.g. tutor handbook)
  • First point of contact for SchulPro Coordinator and HR with regards to operational queries
  • Support HR in the selection of suitable tutors for the SchulPro
  • Report any issues, concerns, updates or changes to the DerDieDas Committee
  • Cover the SchulPro Coordinator role in case of absence
