About the role

We're looking for a results-driven Area Sales Manager to drive product sales with our OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers. Central to the role is proactive customer engagement in the field, and a drive to identify & secure business, from both existing & new customers.

Operating from our Rydalmere office, the role is well supported by a talented team, including local product management & internal sales/customer service functions. Offshore we have access to world-class R&D capabilities, product/application engineering & market sector SMEs, as well as comprehensive marketing support.

Core elements of the role are;

  • Meeting & exceeding annual Sales & Order Intake targets, which deliver solid year on year revenue growth
  • Developing and growing a detailed CRM driven Opportunity pipeline, which tracks progress & drives results in line with the longer sales cycles often associated with OEM business
  • Long-term customer relationship management, including frequent visits, customer networking, & timely customer service responses
  • Understanding customer needs & providing technical/commercial solutions (via proposal) which fully satisfy their requirements
  • Working cross-functionally within the global WIKA organization to oversee the creation of customized product solutions, including functional samples for trial
  • Managing multiple end-to-end product related projects, and keeping customers informed of key developments as they occur
  • Understanding customer product lifecycles, R&D timelines, and future product/application needs
  • Keeping abreast of market trends, and aligning these with existing or new WIKA offerings
  • Maximizing sales opportunities by cross selling the full WIKA product portfolio
  • On-going technical/commercial skills development via our on-line WIKAcademy & peer led training
  • Regular travel within NSW, with occasional inter-state & overseas trips

Skills and experience

We would like to hear from experienced sales professionals who have the following competencies & experience;

  • Australian residents, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in sales of industrial products, ideally instrumentation or related technology products
  • Skilled in driving business growth through strategic customer account planning and proactive market sector approaches that unlock new opportunities
  • Analytical & collaborative skills which identify new target customers and/or industry opportunities, & qualify these for follow-up
  • The ability to convert customer needs into a reasoned business case, and thereafter the development of technical/commercial solutions which fully meet expectations
  • Comfortable in dealing with offshore manufacturing sites, and overseeing the creation of customized product, from concept through to production
  • Strong sales ability in presenting technical & commercial solutions, handling exceptions, and closing sales
  • A tertiary qualification in engineering (mechanical/electrical) or equivalent industrial instrumentation experience
  • Intermediate to advanced ERP (SAP/D-365/etc) & MS Office suite skills, along with exposure to CRM strategy & use
  • A self-driven approach, with a strong focus on planning & executing day-to-day activities which deliver tangible revenue-related outcomes
