About North Western Program Alliance

North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) consists of five Alliance partners - John Holland, KBR, MTM, V/Line and the client (LXRP), working together as one team to achieve shared goals. Since 2017, NWPA has had a proven track record with the successful delivery of eight level crossing removal projects (17 LX) and several premium stations, with three projects currently in delivery and two in development phase.

We are currently looking for an People Advisor to join us on a permanent basis to work across NWPA.

Key Responsibilities

Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a permanent career opportunity with John Holland.

As a People Advisor, you will provide human resource management support and advice to Projects across the Alliance, including guidance on recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, remuneration and cultural diversity.

Reporting to the People Lead, you will join an experienced People team with a supportive culture and focus on collaboration and success.


• Provide general assistance to the Human Resource function in the implementation of HR strategies and projects

• Partner with the People Lead to provide operational support and advice in relation to emerging and top talent

• Build positive relationships through influence and negotiation with employees, managers, subcontractors, and external stakeholder groups across the business

• Deliver presentations, facilitate meetings, welcome inductions and training workshops, and engage with various work groups to achieve desired outcomes

• Continuously seek ways of improving processes and strive towards efficient ways of working

• Assist to obtain recommendations on salary benchmarking and remunerations packages

• Provide counselling and support to managers and employees with regard to problems affecting work performance

• Provide support regarding people capability queries (induction, onboarding, performance management and development planning)

• Coordinate programs as required for the successful delivery and execution of learning and development requirements

• Implementation of training and development initiatives in the organisation

• Generate reports from various databases, which may include information on training and development and performance management, and make recommendations to employees and managers

To be successful in this key role, we are looking for;


• Post-secondary school training or TAFE certificate in HR, IR/ER, Education, Psychology or Business

• Degree or higher in Business, Human Resource Management, Legal, Finance or other associated disciplines

• Demonstrated experience in a HR Advisor role or similar

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of national and state regulatory frameworks

• Knowledge of contractual and commercial awareness

• Knowledge of employment legislation, including government policy

• Experience in HR project work, leading an initiative or desired outcome

• Strong interpersonal skills and social awareness with proven stakeholder management experience in an advisory level
