At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.
Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community. We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.
The Opportunity
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport is seeking a Senior Advisor, Commercial Marine and State Waters to lead the development of marine policy and the management of essential marine services across South Australia. This role offers the chance to influence strategic planning, guide investment in marine infrastructure, and contribute to legislative and safety initiatives that support the state's coastal communities.
You will provide expert advice on contracts and service agreements, lead policy development, and contribute to business cases for marine asset investment. You will also prepare high-quality reports, briefings, and ministerial correspondence while maintaining specialist knowledge in marine legislation, safety, and environmental policy.
Collaborating closely with government and industry stakeholders, you will support departmental priorities and help foster a safe, inclusive, and ethical workplace aligned with South Australian public sector values.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex challenges and making a tangible contribution to South Australia's marine and coastal infrastructure.
About you
You are a driven and forward-thinking professional with a genuine passion for South Australia's marine future. You have a proven ability to research, analyse, and interpret complex information, applying your discipline knowledge to deliver innovative and practical advice that aligns with business objectives and priorities.
You bring extensive experience in policy development, project management, and contract management, consistently delivering positive outcomes in complex and dynamic environments. Your contemporary knowledge of marine policy, legislation, facilities, risks, and emerging issues ensures you can provide authoritative guidance and solutions.
You are highly organised and able to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple competing demands to meet deadlines efficiently. A natural collaborator, you build productive relationships, foster a positive workplace culture, and engage and influence stakeholders effectively to achieve desired outcomes.
With well-developed written and verbal communication skills, you prepare high-quality briefings, reports, and correspondence for senior stakeholders, delivering clear, concise, and informed recommendations. You are committed to public sector values, continuous improvement, and making a meaningful contribution to a safer, more connected, and sustainable South Australia.
