We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Contracts Specialist. This is a Full-Time role, based in our Port Macquarie office on the beautiful Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW.Position OverviewThe Contracts Specialist will work closely with the Project Manager to develop and implement commercial strategies, oversee contract reviews, and manage the formation and administration of subcontracts. Communication with the client and sub-contracts is also a key component of this role.Key Accountabilities:The key accountabilities for this role include:Provide commercial advice to the project team ensuring that key commercial and contractual issues and risk are addressed in an effective and efficient mannerPerform regular commercial analysis and during the delivery of the project to support optimising our commercial positionSupport contract negotiations and assist in the transition of successful tenders into live projects and ensure that the project stakeholders are aware of the contractual requirements,Undertake contractual management of the project to maximise commercial outcomes and performanceIdentify and manage commercial risksManage and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external customersLead negotiations with our client, subcontractors and suppliers relating to contractual issues, teaming arrangements, licensing arrangements and confidentiality agreements to deliver appropriate commercial outcomesIn conjunction with the Legal team create new subcontractsAdminister the head contract, subcontracts, report on subcontractor performance, resolve issues and disputes, and ensure performance reviews are undertaken in accordance with the head contract and subcontractsProvide advice to the Project Manager on contractual issues, potential solutions, and dispute resolutionProvide advice and support to the Project Manager on contract risks and opportunities, variation claim support, and other commercial support during the execution of contractsAssist the Project Manager in the timely and efficient closure of contracts and subcontractsUphold documentation standardsSupport development and implementation of best practice procurement and contract management frameworks, plans and processesContribute to the development and delivery of training initiatives for Birdon personnel with a focus on enhancing the commercial acumen.Qualifications, Experience and Skills Essential.Formal degree in business, commerce, law or related tertiary qualificationContract Management Experience with high complexity contracts between $10m - $100m5+ years procurement experienceDispute and claim managementStrong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact effectively with senior management, stakeholders and partnersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSuperior analytical and problem-solving skillsThe ability to undertake regular domestic travelAustralian Citizenship, with eligibility to hold an Australian NV1 security clearanceService-oriented team player with a "make it happen safely" attitudeDesirable.Formal training in Commercial/Contact Management including Contract Management Body of Knowledge.Contract Management of Australian Defence contracts >$100m and familiarity with ASDEFCON10+ years procurement experience in the Defence sectorWe deliver value for our customers through our innovative people, organisational agility, and operational excellence.
