The Role

CAE Flight Training Melbourne is seeking a full-time Safety & Quality Officer. Reporting to the Safety & Quality Manger, the role will be vital in ensuring that our organization maintains the highest standards of Safety and Quality Assurance throughout all operations.

The Safety & Quality Officer will assist the Safety & Quality Manager in fostering a strong Safety culture and ensuring that Safety programs are developed and maintained. Key responsibilities include the administration of the Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality management System (QMS) and documentation & records control. The ability to work collaboratively with a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders will be the key to your success in this role

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Safety & Quality Manager in running the corporate Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QMS)
• Foster a positive Safety culture, with flight safety considerations given the foremost priority
• Implement, facilitate, and monitor Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Management processes
• Initiate, conduct, and closure of Safety occurrence investigations
• Maintain the Safety incident/hazard reporting records and risk management database
• Maintain proper records and flight safety documentation, and records control. Review and analysis of operational reports to ensure that relevant systems, processes, and procedures are safe, efficient, and effective
• Provide advice on flight safety matters, and assist staff and managers as necessary
• Compile regular reports on the effectiveness of the Safety Management System & Quality Management Systems
• Ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations and company policies
• Conducting Safety and Quality Audits to maintain high compliance and safety standards
• Developing and implementing safety and quality improvement initiatives
• Providing training and guidance on safety protocols to staff and students
• Collaborating with various teams to promote a strong safety culture

Skills and Experience

• A Genuine passion for aviation safety and commitment to continuous improvement
• Self-motivated, able to work independently with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Strong proficiency in the use of MS Office and the ability to learn operational management systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
• Comprehensive knowledge of CASA and other regulatory requirements, especially Safety and Compliance requirements (preferred)
• Formal qualifications in flying, aviation management, and/or aviation safety
• Formal qualification in quality management and auditing (preferred)
• Experience in Aviation SMS and QMS (preferred)
