About The Role
This is a rare opportunity to both lead a dedicated and established Accounts and Payroll team and be a key business partner. This role is in a company that is evolving and changing to meet the emerging expectations and opportunity of being a leading market research and insight business in the data and AI rich marketplace. Integral to success, beyond ensuring the Company remains compliant and financially effective, the role supports commercial business decisions and development by understanding and communicating our key business drivers, generating relevant insights and forecasts based on finance and accounting information.
- As our Chief Accountant, your key responsibilities will be:
- Lead the Accounts and Payroll team, providing guidance and support on managing the day-to-day financial operations, preparation and analysis of management and external financial and operational reporting
- Produce and present regular, impactful financial management information and reports to the executive team at team and company level
- Partner with the CFO, the Executive, and other members of the Corporate Service team to develop and present analysis of the financial and operational information in the company for greater commercial benefit. Work with staff in line areas to encourage and support financial literacy throughout the company
- Maintain and adapt appropriately robust financial controls, processes and procedures across the business
- Work closely with and assist the CFO/Commercial Director on matters requiring technical accounting knowledge
- Deliver and review as required annual financial audit requirements including the preparation of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards
- Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of financial reports for the group including subsidiaries and prepare consolidated accounts
- Lead and manage the finance team and coordinate with others as required to ensure the timely and accurate preparation and submission of aspects required from a compliance perspective such as tax returns, ASIC reports etc.
About You
Ideally, your skills and experience should include:
- ACA/CPA or equivalent (essential), coupled with 7 years practical experience as a senior accountant (preferred)
- Experience in leading and developing a team
- Experience in building and maintaining positive and effective relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with automating or AI deployment in a finance environment for interfacing, reporting and analysis viewed positively.
- Experience in professional services, research or data-rich environments beneficial but not essential
- Highly organised, pro-active and able to deliver on multiple competing and strict deadlines
