Job description:

The Role

Reporting to the PD, The Survey Manager is responsible for leading and managing all surveying activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all stages of project delivery. This role oversees the survey team, manages survey control and data integrity, and provides technical expertise to support engineering, construction, and quality assurance functions on the Goulburn River Solar Project. This is a Site-based position on a major renewable energy construction project with a 2/1 rostered working arrangement, with accommodation and allowances provided as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute survey works in alignment with the project schedule, ensuring survey outputs meet all construction milestones on the critical path.

• Monitor survey workload and resource allocation to avoid delays and ensure continuity of construction operations.

• Provide accurate as-built data and verification reports to facilitate progressive handover and commissioning.

• Ensure survey data meets contractual accuracy requirements and complies with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.

• Implement robust QA/QC processes for survey control, set-out, and as-built deliverables.

• Identify and rectify variances or non-conformances promptly, mitigating rework risks.

• Manage survey resources efficiently, balancing internal capacity with subcontractor support where required.

• Identify opportunities to optimise survey processes (e.g., UAV/drone mapping, automated data capture) to reduce project costs and increase productivity.

• Track and report survey resource utilisation against budget allowances.

• Maintain survey risk registers, identifying and mitigating risks associated with accuracy, technology, site conditions, or resourcing.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Surveying, Geospatial Science, or related discipline.

• Minimum 7-10 years of civil construction surveying experience, preferably on utility-scale solar or infrastructure projects.

• Proficiency in using surveying instruments and software (e.g., Leica, Trimble, AutoCAD Civil 3D, 12d, or similar).

• Strong understanding of earthworks processes and structural layout requirements.

• Managing and directing a survey team

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and digital terrain models.

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in survey measurement and data handling.

• Valid driver's license and ability to work in a remote or regional project setting.

• White Card (Construction Induction) required.
