The Client

The role
With direct report to the Billings Manager your duties will include the following:
- Keep patient billing records accurate, current, and compliant with organisational policies and privacy standards.
- Process invoices promptly and precisely across all payer categories, including private health insurers, workers' compensation, third-party payers, and self-funded patients.
- Manage audit requests from health funds, ensuring the correct documentation and evidence are supplied.
- Communicate with health fund billing departments to resolve any claim issues, such as delays, discrepancies, or rejections.
- Coordinate and lodge ex-gratia submissions to health funds, including gathering and preparing all required supporting information.
- Track outstanding accounts and actively follow up unpaid claims to support strong revenue cycle outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations and health fund agreements, applying this expertise to day-to-day billing tasks.
- Support ongoing improvement projects focused on simplifying billing procedures and improving the overall patient payment journey.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate previous experience as per the following:
- Hospital or healthcare billing experience, with strong knowledge of medical billing and claims processes
- Confident handling billing for private patients, health funds, workers' comp, third party & self-funded accounts
- Skilled in hospital systems and billing software (WebPAS or similar)
- Solid understanding of Medicare, MBS item numbers & health fund contracts
- Able to manage audits, claims, and queries with accuracy and professionalism
- Collaborative communicator who works well with health funds, clinical teams & practice managers
- Detail-focused with strong record-keeping and respect for confidentiality
- Team player with great communication skills, thriving in fast-paced healthcare settings
