About the role

In this newly created role, you will be at the heart of our Bayside Family Violence services, supporting the delivery of high-quality, client centred services to adult and child victim-survivors of family violence. As a Family Violence Support Worker you will play a critical role in smooth operations of our emergency accommodation in the City of Bayside. Day to day, you will welcome clients into a well maintained culturally safe environment providing access for women and children to specialist family violence services. Supporting practitioners, you'll work hands on with clients to build independence, access necessary supports, and ensuring smooth execution of activities. You will be highly compassionate in your approach, with a strong emphasis on organisation and streamling administrative processes.

Please note: at this time, this role is contracted until June 2026.

What you'll be doing

  • Create a welcoming, tidy and safe environment for any clients, including children and young people visiting the facility
  • Provide relief and promote safety by coordinating material aid that meets the clients' immediate needs
  • Empower independence and confidence by supporting clients with everyday living skills and build self-esteem and resilience
  • Assist practitioners by arranging necessary supports for residents including booking client appointments, arranging medical care, material aid and transport etc.
  • Prepare the property for new arrivals, including making beds, coordinating maintenance, and organising donations and pantry items
  • Develop our program by collecting and documenting client feedback
  • Deliver compassionate support to women and children by managing essential administrative tasks that keep our services running smoothly

About you

  • You bring a trauma-informed, client-centred approach to your work
  • Possess a foundational understanding of family violence and the services Good Shepherd provides
  • Be able to manage competing priorities in a busy team environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including proficiency in record-keeping, data entry, and document preparation
  • You're adaptable, proactive, and thrive in a dynamic team environment
  • Considered communication skills that are professional and sensitive when speaking with clients, internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to learn quickly and work with a range of databases, case management systems, and Microsoft Office applications
  • A current full Australian Drivers Licence
