Job DescriptionThe Disrupting Violence Beacon is a strategic Griffith University research initiative focused on understanding and responding to violence in all forms.
This research project focuses on novel perpetrator responses to domestic and family violence. It aims to undertake a pilot to develop and test new responses for men who use violence in the home, and to build pathways and evidence of how other innovations can be applied.
The Research Assistant position will provide major research assistance to design the research, conduct literature reviews, employ mixed methods to collect data and perform other tasks as directed by the project lead and other members of the project.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with research duties such as research design, data collection and analysis using mixed methods, completion of ethics applications, and project administration in accordance with research protocols.
- Coordinate meetings between researchers and participating external collaborators, including domestic and family violence service providers, as required.
- Undertake interviews with the targeted participant group and practitioners to support the research project's key initiatives.
About you
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree with Honours, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience. You must be willing to frequently travel to Brisbane for data collection and analysis.
You will also have:
- Proven ability to assist with research design, data collection and analysis using mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative), including the preparation of ethics applications and project administration in accordance with established research protocols.
- Experience in coordinating meetings and facilitating collaboration between academic researchers and external stakeholders, particularly within the domestic and family violence sector or similar community service environments.
- Demonstrated capability to undertake interviews with diverse participant groups and practitioners, with sensitivity to ethical considerations and an understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, University policies and procedures, including research ethics, equity, health and safety, and laboratory standards, with a commitment to maintaining compliance and promoting good research practice.
- A strong personal alignment with the principles and values outlined in the University's Code of Conduct, with a demonstrated ability to act, communicate and behave in a manner that reflects fairness, ethics and professionalism in all interactions.
What we can offer
This is a fixed term (available until May 2026), 60% part-time position based Off-campus (working space available at Griffith University Logan but can work remotely) including travelling to Brisbane as required. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith University's campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary for a Research Assistant (Grade 2) is in the range $84,335 - $88,689 per annum, plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $98,672 - $103,767 per annum.
