The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.
The Water Operations - Metering & Licensing team are seeking to appoint a Principal Water Resource Analyst in a full-time temporary capacity to 30 June 2027, with the chance of further extension.
About You
Lead the design, development and production of high-quality information products for use by industry, government and community using tools like PowerBI. Provide high level analysis and assessment to inform ongoing implementation of the non-urban metering reform. Drive improvements to performance and efficiencies and inform reporting and performance management. The role provides specialist technical expertise, knowledge and guidance to build team capability and ensure high quality water resource management outcomes.
- Policy & Reform Support – Provide high-level analysis, assessment, and technical advice to inform the implementation of non-urban metering reform, licensing, approvals, and water planning initiatives.
- Data & Compliance Management – Analyse metering and measurement data to support LTAAEL and SDL compliance, ensuring systems and processes remain fit for purpose.
- Product & Reporting Development – Lead the design and delivery of high-quality metering, licensing and approvals information products, reports, and performance outputs for industry, government, and the community.
- Team Leadership & Capability Building – Lead project teams, coordinate resources, and share technical expertise to build team capability and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Innovation & Best Practice – Drive the innovative application, acquisition, and interpretation of metering and water accounting data to support best practice water resource management, reporting and decision-making.
Knowledge & Experience
- Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: water resources management modelling, water resource accounting, river operations, statistics, computer programming, open channel hydraulics.
- Experience in assessing the suitability of data and systems for water resource analysis and reporting requirements.
- Proven ability to evaluate complex scientific and hydrological investigations, data and research to determine validity and rigor in the context of water resource management.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in applied sciences or science-based discipline.
