Young Performers: Recreational beginner/intermediate training across all genres of the performing arts. Ages 7-18yrs

Our Vision:

The Role

The Petites and Young Performers Coordinator role is responsible for the coordination of the Petites (P) and Youth Performers (YP) programs at Brent Street. The role will be required for training and operational management of the programs with responsibilities including teaching, timetabling, student experience and parent management while maintaining the creative and technical standards that define Brent Street. The Petites and Young Performers Coordinator and Head of Youth Training will work closely together to ensure student retention and growth of these programs.

Hours and days are subject to change based on timetabling and events and will be programmed in consultation with the successful candidate. You will be required to work afternoon/evenings and weekends in line with the department timetable up to a 38hour work week.

An example:

Monday: 1:00pm – 8:30pm

Tuesday: 12:00pm – 7:30pm

Wednesday: 1:00pm – 8:30pm

Thursday: 1:00pm – 8:30pm

Friday: RDO

Saturday: 8:00am – 6:00pm

Sunday: RDO

Key Responsibilities

Program Delivery

· Coordinate delivery of an annual program plan, including class schedules, performance opportunities, and developmental milestones.

· Continuously improve programs by integrating industry trends, elite teaching practices, and feedback from students, parents, and staff.

· Coordinate the performances for programs, ensuring they showcase creative and technical excellence befitting Brent Street's reputation.

· Ensure all classes are fully staffed to maintain elite standards.

· Teach classes as directed whilst maintaining elite standards.

· Coordinate operational and artistic programs, ensuring alignment with the organisation's elite standards and goals.

· Develop and implement a syllabus to be delivered across the Petites and Young Performers Program.

Teaching Support

· Assist, train, and mentor casual staff to deliver elite training and maintain a professional, positive environment that upholds Brent Street's reputation.

· Actively add to a welcoming, inclusive, and energetic environment where all casual staff feel valued and supported within a recreational training framework.

· Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and train teaching staff.

· Observe daily class delivery, providing constructive feedback to teachers to enhance teaching quality and ensure a positive student experience.

· Ensure staff adherence to Brent Street's policies, code of conduct, and safety guidelines (e.g., WWCC, WHS).

Student Engagement and Welfare

· Strengthen community by nurturing students, engaging parents, and promoting creative excellence at a recreational level.

  • Track student progress, provide mentorship, and identify talent for advanced training opportunities (e.g., PTP program) to uphold Brent Street's elite standards.
  • Implement strategies to boost student retention and attract new students to the Youth Training department.
  • Address student welfare concerns promptly, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and Brent Street's elite code of conduct.
  • Ensure accurate attendance records and action follow-ups of unexplained absences or potential welfare issues.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement

  • Act as a point of contact for parents, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally, consistent with Brent Street's elite standards.
  • Communicate program updates, schedules, and event details to parents clearly and efficiently.
  • Build a strong sense of community by organising events, workshops, and performances that engage students and families.
