About the Role:

We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Officer (Gardener) to join our team on a full time basis. Based at our St Ives House, located at 97 Killeaton St, St Ives NSW 2075.

Thompson Health Care (THC) is seeking a full-time Ground Maintenance Officer with plant and garden knowledge to be fully responsible for managing the gardens and lawns at St Ives House Nursing Home. This role will be reporting into the Landscaping Manager who oversees all 16 THC Aged Care homes and will provide support to this role.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who has a passion for gardening, initiative, commitment, and strong customer service and communication skills.

All tools will be provided, and you will be supported by the Landscaping Manager for Thompson Health Care.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in Grounds / Landscaping maintenance services.
• MUST have Cert III or IV in Landscaping or Horticulture
• 2 - 3 years' experience
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to hold Garden Classes
• Execute work that is of a high standard
• A strong commitment to and understanding of quality, environmental, occupational health, and safety management systems.
• Experience caring for plants, pruning, hedging, pest and disease management & lawn maintenance
• Attention to detail and organised
• Ability to multi-task; work reliably with limited supervision and make sound decisions quickly.
• Someone who is sociable and can engage with residents
• Ride on mower experience would be an advantage

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the common grounds are always maintained and presented at a high standard
• Operating a range of mowers and other power garden equipment
• Garden refreshing-woodchip mulch, new plants etc.
• Weed control-spraying and manual weeding
• General garden maintenance tasks
• Ensure compliance of all occupational and safety processes and procedures
