About the role

Reporting to the Service Lead Community Development, the Community Development Officer – Neighbourhood Activation supports strategic community led action that builds stronger trusted relationships between stakeholders and delivers events and activities that reflect local voices and priorities. This position is a maximum term, part time (0.6FTE), which can be flexible for the preferred candidate, up until June 2026.

A snapshot of your new role:

  • Identify and develop partnerships and relationships with non-profit organisations, government agencies, local businesses, and emerging community groups in selected neighbourhoods
  • Coordinate community conversations and communications to build shared understanding and coordinated action
  • Facilitate use of feedback, reflection and lived experience to adapt and improve community outcomes

Who we're looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, or similar or equivalent experience
  • Over 2 years' experience in community development or similar role
  • Knowledge of the principles of asset-based community development, with the ability to apply these in a local government context
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong project management skills, with experience and capability to manage multiple projects
  • Understanding of the principles of inclusion, with a demonstrated commitment to the application of inclusion principles in planning and delivery
  • Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)
