Job Description
A high impact opportunity for a Senior Data Science Analyst has become available within the National Data & Analytics (NDA) department of ALDI stores, based in Minchinbury, NSW.
This is a permanent full-time position.
This pivotal role will see you immersing yourself in machine learning and statistical modelling, employing advanced techniques to dissect and understand complex data sets. As a part of our Data Analytics team, you'll be instrumental in creating and maintaining tools which provide valuable insights that guide our decision-making to optimise both time and costs.
What does the role look like?
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of models and data science projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and measurable impact
- Proactively engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities, define problems, and ensure solutions are implemented and adopted effectively
- Mentor junior and mid-level data scientists, providing guidance on modelling techniques, machine learning engineering practices, governance and business alignment.
- Build, test, and deploy machine learning models using Python, SQL, Spark, and Databricks on Azure to solve problems in forecasting, operations, and automation
- Design and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to ensure reliable access for analytics and ML use cases
- Use A/B testing, optimisation techniques, and causal inference to generate insights that inform key business decisions
- Implement robust MLOps practices, including model versioning, automated retraining, and performance monitoring
- Prototype solutions in advanced domains such as computer vision, optimisation, and generative AI
- Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations through presentations, dashboards, and documentation.
- Proven experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments
- Proficient in Python, SQL, and Spark; experience with Databricks and Azure preferred
- Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and optimisation methods for experimentation and operational decision-making
- Familiarity with emerging techniques in computer vision, large language models, or causal inference
- Ability to communicate technical findings effectively to business and technical stakeholders
- Experience across the full data science lifecycle, including development, deployment, and MLOps practices.

Remuneration
- Transparent tiered salary range of $159,800 - $191,500 including superannuation.
