The Role:

As the Incident and Compliance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the business operates in line with regulatory standards while maintaining high-quality, services for participants. This role involves overseeing the identification, reporting, investigation, and resolution of incidents, particularly those involving harm or risk to NDIS and My Aged Care participants. The Incident and Compliance Manager ensures compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements as well as My Aged Care standards by developing and implementing robust incident management systems. They also analyze incident trends, deliver training, and guide staff to promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Lead organisational compliance with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, including NDIS Practice Standards and Skill Descriptors.
  • Lead organisational compliance for My Aged Care

  • Develop, review and implement quality frameworks, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Conduct internal audits, coordinate external audit activities, and ensure follow-up actions are completed effectively.

  • Maintain Quality Management Systems and ensure data is used to support continuous improvement.

  • Prepare monthly reports for Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings.

  • Support the organisation's risk management strategy, including maintaining the Risk Register.

Incident Management

  • Oversee incident reporting processes and conduct thorough investigations in compliance with NDIS requirements.

  • Coordinate timely and accurate submissions to the NDIS Commission, including restrictive practice notifications.

  • Identify incident trends and collaborate with relevant teams to develop preventative strategies and mitigation plans.

  • Monitor the use of restrictive practices and ensure reporting aligns with least restrictive principles and NDIS Commission requirements.

  • Provide guidance and training to frontline teams to ensure responsible, safe, and legal implementation of restrictive practices.

Governance and Risk Management

  • Facilitate internal governance processes and periodic policy and compliance reviews.

  • Collaborate with the SLT to identify and manage organisational risks.

  • Provide advice on legislative changes and sector trends to maintain compliance and mitigate risk.

About you:

  • Demonstrated experience in compliance, incident management, and quality assurance in the NDIS & My Aged Care sector.
  • Strong understanding of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Strong understanding of My Aged Care legislative requirements
  • Proven ability to lead internal audits, manage regulatory submissions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience liaising with regulators.
  • High-level analytical, organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, ethical judgment, and ability to make complex decisions.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Disability, Community Services, Health, Compliance, or similar fields.
  • Understanding of clinical practice, medication safety, and complex support needs.
  • Experience in navigating My Aged Care.
  • High personal integrity and ethical standards
