**Job Role: Reportable Incidents and Regulatory Compliance Officer**

Our organization works in collaboration with individuals with disabilities, service providers, and the community to deliver consistent, responsive, and effective regulation of service providers.

The Reportable Incidents and Compliance Officers will be part of a dedicated team that monitors the response of registered service providers to ensure immediate risk to individuals' safety and wellbeing is managed effectively. They will undertake assessments and investigations of incidents and follow up accordingly.

Key responsibilities of APS5 officers include:

  • Assisting with the management of a caseload of incidents, liaising regularly with managers on caseload management
  • Supporting the development of advice to senior officials about trends, issues, and inadequate investigations by service providers
  • Managing and resolving complaints about the provision of supports and services by service providers, including assessing moderately complex complaints and contributing to complaints handling activities
  • Supporting education and training functions for service providers in identifying incidents, preventing, and responding to abuse and neglect of individuals with disabilities
  • Developing productive working relationships with stakeholders to facilitate the work of the reportable incidents handling function

APS6 officers will have additional responsibilities, including:

  • Guiding and mentoring staff on the implementation, assessment, and monitoring of reportable incidents and regulatory intelligence, consistent with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and Rules
  • Managing a caseload of reportable incidents, including assessing complex incidents and escalating them for investigation or other action when necessary
  • Providing advice on trends and issues through the oversight and review of reportable incidents received
  • Guiding and mentoring officers to ensure assessments of reportable incidents are completed to a quality standard within agreed timeframes
  • Providing education and training to service providers in identifying incidents, preventing, and responding to abuse and neglect of individuals with disabilities
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with external stakeholders to facilitate the work of the function
  • Preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation, including reports, briefings, and submissions

Senior APS6 officers will also have additional responsibilities, including:

  • Leading the development of compliance promotion and education campaigns to inform and educate service providers, participants, and the public about our functions and requirements
  • Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with a diverse range of external stakeholders to facilitate the work of the compliance, reportable incidents, and investigations functions
  • Preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation, including reports, briefings, and submissions to support compliance action
