About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting functions, monthly reporting, and compliance activities. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to grow their career in accounting and finance within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What will you do?

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journals and reporting.
  
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  
• Assist with processing supplier invoices and preparing weekly payment reports for the accounts payable (AP) meeting.
  
• Assist in preparing finance and management reports.
  
• Fixed asset register maintenance and depreciation calculations.
  
• Inventory Management.
  
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across all accounts.
  
• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and other compliance requirements.
  
• Liaise with internal stakeholders.
  
• Perform ad hoc analysis and other ad hoc reporting as requested by the finance team.

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate:

• A proactive, "can-do" attitude with a willingness to learn and take ownership.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper, Accounts Payable/Receivable Officer, or in a similar finance role.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems (experience with NetSuite or similar will be highly regarded).
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end accounting processes, including reconciliations, journals, and reporting.
• Experience working with multiple entities and multi-currency transactions.
• Familiarity with BAS, GST, PAYG and general compliance requirements.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
• Strong time management and organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Problem-solving mindset – able to investigate issues and implement practical solutions.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
