Community Organiser
Company Description
At the Conservation Council of Western Australia, we believe real change comes when everyday people are empowered to act. As our Community Organiser, your role will be to build bridges between passionate communities and effective campaigns. You'll recruit, train, and mentor volunteers, and organise boots‑on‑the‑ground actions: rallies, stalls, phone banking, and door knocks. You'll also create compelling communications, collaborate with member groups, and help grow a resilient, inclusive environmental movement.
We're looking for someone with excellent people skills, strong digital savvy, fierce creativity, and a deep commitment to nature. You'll be a catalyst — lifting others into leadership, turning vision into action, and helping reshape the future of Western Australia's environment.
key selection criteria
- Demonstrated passion for environmental and social change - Explain how you have contributed to protecting nature, climate action, sustainability, or built people‑power in your community (member groups, volunteer work, campaigning). Show why this motivates you and how it aligns with this role.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence - Provide examples of effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders, working with volunteers or communities. Show ability to handle sensitive situations, adapt your communication style, listen well, and build trust.
- Adaptability, creativity, and a proactive ("can‑do") attitude - Give instances where you have handled fast‑paced work, used creative problem solving, taken initiative under pressure, or learned new digital tools quickly. Demonstrate that you thrive in collaborative settings and can figure things out when challenges arise.
- Awareness of First Nation peoples' cultures, histories and protocols - Illustrate your knowledge or experience relating to First Nations' contexts, respectful engagement, and cultural protocol.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing and supporting others into leadership roles - Describe how you have supported others to step into leadership - formally or informally. This may include mentoring, training, capacity-building, or creating space for volunteers, peers, or community members to take initiative and lead.
If you're energised by collective power, thrive in dynamic environments, and want your work to make an immediate difference — this is your call. Join us to expand the voice of citizens pushing for a sustainable WA and to protect our natural environment.
If you are interested, message me now and be part of something that matters.
