The organisation:
HSUWA is a diverse, contemporary and growing union. Our members include a wide range of health professionals, administrative and technical staff who work in hospitals and health services, aged care, disability services, imaging, pathology, private practices and allied health. The HSUWA is focused on growing union membership, continuing to develop member leadership, encouraging members to actively participate in the union, building and enforcing standards in HSUWA workplaces and campaigning politically.
The role:
HSUWA Organisers work to better the lives of union members, primarily through achieving improvements in wages and workplace conditions. Organisers play a key leadership role in building union membership with the aim of enhancing HSUWA's industrial strength, including by recruiting new members and by building genuine member solidarity.
Benefits include an attractive salary, with an additional superannuation contribution of 14.25 % and good conditions.
The person:
We are seeking an enthusiastic person who is passionate about improving workers' lives. You will be an effective communicator and listener, be able to build and maintain good relationships with our stakeholders and work in a fast-paced team environment dealing with competing priorities.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:
- a commitment to social justice and/or union campaigns, including experience with helping to lead campaigns;
- excellent communication and conversation skills;
- a strong ability to problem solve, self-reflect and act on identified areas for improvement;
- an ability to deal with competing demands and pressured situations; and
- a strong work ethic with a desire to get the best outcomes for members.
To perform this job, you will also require:
- a valid driver's licence;
- an ability to work weekends and evenings as required; and
- an ability to hold Right of Entry permits (state and federal).
It is desirable that the successful applicant also demonstrate:
- an understanding of the heath sector; and
- some practical experience in the field of Industrial Relations.
