MLC is one of Melbourne's leading independent girls' schools, renowned for its commitment to excellence, care, and holistic student development. We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and highly organised Part-Time Boarding House Supervisor to join our Boarding community.

This role provides high-quality care, supervision, and pastoral support for our boarding students, primarily covering evening shifts when full-time Supervisors are off duty.

Key Responsibilities Student Wellbeing

  • Support the routines and protocols of the Boarding House
  • Foster a warm, inclusive, and supportive community
  • Be responsive and available to students, offering guidance and pastoral care
  • Escort students to medical appointments when required
  • Promote healthy living and wellbeing habits

Supervision of Boarding Students

  • Ensure an environment that enhances each student's self-esteem and sense of belonging
  • Care for students with compassion, consistency, and fairness
  • Ensure student compliance with College policies
  • Maintain accurate leave records and ensure all students are accounted for
  • Supervise and support students during homework and study time, including tutoring when required
  • Assist with security checks, locking up, and routine operational duties
  • Follow established Boarding House routines and expectations

Administration & Communication

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with College processes
  • Complete detailed handover notes via Orah (Boarding House app)
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Contribute positively to the Boarding House team culture
  • Support College operations, events, and systems as required
  • Participate in training, meetings, and professional development
  • Assist with induction of new staff

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with colleagues across the College

About You — Person Specification Essential

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organised, reliable, and attentive to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with digital tools and administrative systems
  • Passion for supporting young people and their development
  • Honesty, integrity, and professionalism
  • Internationally minded with the ability to work in a diverse community
  • Relevant qualifications or experience
  • Current VIT Registration or Employee Working With Children Check
  • Current Australian working rights
  • Alignment with MLC's values and commitment to student wellbeing

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a boarding facility or similar environment
  • Teaching experience, education qualifications, or current tertiary study toward an education-related field
