Botanical Hotel, one of Melbourne's most stylish and recognisable Hospitality venues is seeking an internal Company Accountant to oversee financial reporting for the business and its associated entities.

Reporting through to the business owner, this position offers a great opportunity to expose yourself to a full range of company and management accounting responsibilities.

As this is a medium sized business, with over 100 staff on payroll, you will be responsible for all accounting tasks, including but not limited to BAS, accounts payable, receivable and payroll.

The role requires the successful candidate to be able to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Manage daily cash flow across multiple business entities, performing detailed bank reconciliations and forecasting cash requirements.
  • Proactively identify and resolve variances or anomalies.
  • Administer the full payroll function for over 100 employees, including award interpretation, superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and leave entitlements.
  • Prepare and deliver timely weekly and month-end financial reports, including revenue and margin analysis, variance commentary, and actionable insights.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensuring assets are correctly recorded, capitalised, and depreciated.
  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), payroll tax, and other statutory returns, ensuring complete accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and management accounts.
  • Manage and execute all month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet and general ledger accounts, ensuring financial data integrity and alignment with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation by compiling and reviewing supporting documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process efficiencies and streamlining financial workflows across all entities.
  • Review and optimise accounting, and operational systems to ensure they remain current, relevant and aligned with the overall business growth and industry best practice.
  • Undertake ad hoc financial analysis, modelling, and project work as directed by management.

Requirements:

  • CA/CPA Qualified (or close to completed)
  • 4+ years' experience in Business Services or Company Accounting
  • Good working knowledge of the hospitality industry
  • Must have a good understanding of Xero
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical skills
  • Delivery focused, proactive approach
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be an excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an agile and fast paced environment
