BOOKKEEPER/ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT – (3-4 days per week)

Due to the expansion and growth of the company, a very exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, dedicated and experienced bookkeeper/assistant accountant to join our head office team. Our company, situated in South Yarra, is a successful multifaceted family investment business which focuses on the development and acquisition of a diverse portfolio of assets across multiple sectors. This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys working within a small friendly environment, and hybrid working arrangements are also available. Some travel to our regional office on the Mornington Peninsula may also be required.

Qualification & Experience

  • Experience in a similar role or gained in professional services environment
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience in MYOB AccountRight Software accounting system or similar
  • Knowledge of GST, P&L and Balance Sheets
  • Strong organisation and planning skills, with a high degree of integrity and a dedicated work ethic
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Great communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Accounting knowledge of retirement villages (preferred but not essential)

Key responsibilities and general requirements

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be an integral part of the financial management and reporting team. Your tasks and responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Responsibility of accounts receivables, accounts payables, invoicing and billing
  • Managing the payroll function for approximately 20 staff, including employee details, leave, superannuation, and taxation
  • Banking and reconciliations
  • GL Account reconciliations
  • Preparation of BAS Returns and assistance with other Statutory returns
  • Supporting the accounting team in response to ad-hoc support requests
