About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Ampol Townsville: 2IC Assistant Manager to join our team at our store in Townsville, Queensland. As the 2IC Assistant Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy retail fuel and convenience store. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the success of a dynamic organisation.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting the Store Manager in the overall management and leadership of the store team
  • Ensuring exceptional customer service and a positive shopping experience for our customers
  • Overseeing staff scheduling, training, and performance management
  • Monitoring and maintaining stock levels, ordering, and merchandising
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
  • Actively contributing to the achievement of sales and profitability targets
  • Providing hands-on support in all aspects of store operations as needed

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in a retail management or assistant manager role, preferably within the fuel and convenience store industry
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service orientation and a commitment to delivering a great shopping experience
  • Proficient in cash handling, inventory management, and data analysis
  • A problem-solving mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including the ability to work weekends and public holidays
