Job description

Disability Support Workers provide assistance to a person with a disability with everyday tasks that a person without a disability would be doing for themselves and may include, and not be limited to, the following activities:

PERSONAL CARE- Manual Handling; Showering; Toileting; Grooming; Excercise, communication, personal development

MEAL ASSISTANCE - Meal preparation or assist clients in making their own meals.

COMMUNITY ACCESS - Recreational and social activities includes shopping and accompanying clients to doctor's appointment

HOUSEKEEPING - doing domestic responsibilities such as housekeeping and sanitation.

ADMIN MEDICATION - assisting clients on their medication.

Disability Support Workers will record case notes that detail progress against PCP goals following each shift.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have at least a* year of experience handling clients with intellectual disability and hearing disability. *

  • Candidates must be proficient in AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language)

- Candidate must provide availability during weekdays (Mondays - Friday); timing will be 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.

  • With Full Victorian Driver's License as most of the activities involves community access.

  • Willing to be assigned in Dandenong House

  • Patient, people-centered, good communicator, and hardworking.

  • Candidates must have the following Mandatory Requirements such as:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Certificate III /IV of Ageing Support, Individual Support or Disability Support or equivalent.
  • Current First Aid
  • Current CPR (Annual)
  • A working permit is required for those on a special visa (e.g. student visa)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Victorial Driver's License
  • Triple COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Current police check (less than 6 months old)
  • Administration of Medication
  • Manual Handling
  • Certificate of NDIS Worker Orientation Module

  • Infection control certificate

  • PREFERABLY: Those with UNLIMITED WORKING HOURS CONDITION on their Work Entitlement.

Shortlisted candidates must prepare and send their 1-minute video of introducing themselves using AUSTRALIAN SIGN LANGUAGE (AUSLAN)

Job Types: Full-time, Casual

Pay: $41-42 per hour Mondays to Friday from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
