Our Group IT team is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Database Systems Lead to join us at our Head Office in Victoria Park, reporting to the Team Leader - Group Business Systems.

You will be responsible for implementing, configuring, maintaining and optimising critical database systems to ensure performance, security and reliability. Key Responsibilities:

* Resolve Challenges: Identify, analyse, and resolve technical issues swiftly, collaborating with cross-functional experts to ensure seamless operations and minimize downtime.

* Ensure Compliance and Excellence: Oversee operations to ensure compliance with governance guidelines and adherence to industry best practices, maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.

What you'll bring:

* Proven Database Expertise: Significant hands-on experience managing and optimising enterprise-scale databases, with exposure to multiple technologies including relational (modern and legacy), modern data platforms and cloud-native solutions.

* Database Optimisation & Reliability: Practical knowledge of performance tuning, backup/restore processes, and designing high-availability/disaster-recovery solutions.

* Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues involving software, hardware, network and database components.

* Customer & Stakeholder Focus: Ability to build relationships, explain technical matters to non-technical audiences, and deliver solutions that provide business value.

* Communication & Organisation: Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.

* Adaptability & Improvement Mindset: Willingness to embrace change, learn new technologies and drive continuous improvement.

* Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions for on-premises and cloud databases (e.g. Oracle RMAN, Cassandra, Microsoft SQL).

* Experience with automation/scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and DevOps/CI/CD practices.
