About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Case Worker to join our organisation in making a positive impact in the lives of the families we support.
This is a case management position that facilitates intensive family service delivery to vulnerable children and families where there are significant child protection concerns.
Provide intensive in-home family support services to families currently working with the Department of Communities (Child Protection and Family Support) who require support to improve family wellbeing and keep their children safely at home or support reunification of children.
The role involves working with families to develop their skills and abilities to strengthen their relationships.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
About you
To be successful you will need to demonstrate:
A Bachelor degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Psychology, or Community Services is required for this position.
- Experience in working with children, young people and families who have been engaged with child protection and out of home care system.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in child protection or out of home care settings is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of strengths-based practice, child development, attachment, trauma theory and how these relate to children, young people and their families who are engaged with the child protection and/or out of home care system.
- Proven ability to coordinate, plan and facilitate case management and service delivery to families that are difficult to engage, and are experiencing multiple vulnerabilities.
- Experience and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the impacts of the Stolen Generation.
- Direct work experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and demonstrated understanding of cultural practices is required.
You will also be required to provide a current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Card and Driver's licence.
