Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) works to alleviate poverty and promote self-determination for the Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Community Projects Coordinator to play a pivotal role in supporting and developing our communities. This position is responsible for identifying, managing and delivering community-based projects that address current and future challenges, while also securing external funding opportunities to extend their impact.

Working closely with Traditional Owners, community groups, business stakeholders and the GAC Board, you will help implement initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing and create sustainable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities


• Initiate, plan and develop project proposals in consultation with communities for Board consideration.


• Conduct feasibility studies, prepare evaluation reports and manage project implementation.


• Oversee project budgets, tendering processes, contractual agreements and reporting requirements.


• Identify and apply for external funding opportunities through partnerships and grants.


• Collaborate with communities to determine needs, strengths and priorities, and co-design strategies for positive change.


• Support initiatives that improve employment, health and education outcomes for GAC Members.


• Maintain accurate project records, budgets and reporting for management and Board review.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:


• Demonstrated experience in project management, community development or a related field.


• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work with remote Aboriginal communities.


• Excellent organisational, reporting and financial management skills.


• The ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
