Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Operator to join our food manufacturing facility based in Karawatha (vicinity of Browns Plains). The Technical Operator's primary responsibility is to operate and maintain the efficiency of assigned production machinery. This hands-on role involves assisting the Operator Maintainer (OM) with technical adjustments and requires an unwavering commitment to food safety, demonstrated through compliance with GMP and the BRCGS Global Food Safety Standard.
- Working Days: Working days will be from Sunday - Thursday.
- Working hours: We are hiring for four Technical Operators due to growth.
- Two Technical Operators will cover the morning shift with working times between 5:00am - 2:00pm.
- Two Technical Operators will cover the afternoon shift with working times between 2pm and 10pm.
You will…
- Conduct Pre-Operational Checks: Perform thorough pre-start inspections to ensure machine safety, cleanliness, and correct setup. Verify all raw materials, ingredients, and packaging corresponds with the production schedule and specifications.
- Operate and Monitor Equipment: Actively operate and monitor production machinery, adjusting key operational parameters under the guidance of the Operator Maintainer (OM) to ensure a consistent and efficient production flow.
- Ensure Product Quality: Conduct routine in-process inspections of materials and products at various stages of production. Perform checks (e.g., weight, seal integrity, appearance, labelling) to ensure compliance with all quality and food safety standards.
- Assist with Troubleshooting: Identify and respond to common machine alarms and stoppages, performing basic first-line troubleshooting to minimize downtime and escalating complex issues to the OM as required.
- Maintain Workplace Hygiene: Assist with the cleaning, disassembly, and reassembly of equipment. Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and standard operating procedures for hygiene and food safety.
- Manage Data and Communication: Accurately record production data in relevant systems (e.g., SCADA/MFG) for traceability and performance tracking. Maintain clear communication with the OM and other team members to ensure smooth operational transitions.
You have…
- Certificate II or III in Food Processing
- A current Food Handling Certificate
- Systems Experience: Experience with production management systems such as SCADA, SAP, or similar.
- Equipment-Specific Experience: Previous hands-on experience with specific food processing machinery such as industrial kettles, continuous multi-stage fry lines, belt ovens, or meat needling equipment or vertical form fill sealer machines.
- Food Manufacturing Experience: A minimum of 3 months experience in a high-risk food manufacturing environment (e.g., wet ingredients, dairy, ready-to-eat meals), including hands-on experience with automated processing equipment.
- Cleaning in Place (CIP): A minimum of 3 months; practical experience operating and monitoring Cleaning in Process (CIP) systems on production machinery.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Demonstrated experience with food safety practices (HACCP, GMP) and process reporting to ensure product accuracy and traceability.
- Work Environment: Proven ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced, and physically demanding team-based environment.
