Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Seqwater Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

About Seqwater
Water is essential for life. At Seqwater, we're not just delivering water—we're driving innovation, growth and transformation to secure the future of water across South East Queensland.

As one of the largest water businesses with the most geographically spread and diverse asset base of any capital city in Australia, our operations extend from the New South Wales border to the base of the Toowoomba ranges and north to Gympie.

As we enter an exciting period of expansion, we're embracing new technologies and sustainable practices to meet the growing needs of our region. We work collaboratively across our organisation and with our stakeholders, constantly striving to enhance the quality of service we provide. As we modernise our systems and invest in smarter water grids, we remain focused on delivering the highest standard of service, always with the future in mind.

Our transformation is about more than just infrastructure—it's about people. Our team of dedicated professionals are united by a shared passion for creating lasting, meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve, and this is reflected in Our Vision, Water for Life , Our Promise - Safe for Life, and Our Values of integrity, respect, care, and courage that shape everything we do.

You'll be working on some of the most high-profile water infrastructure projects in the industry, helping to secure Water for Life for generations to come.

About Your Opportunity
As Technical Lead – Networks, you'll drive the technical governance and strategic direction of Seqwater's most significant pipeline infrastructure projects. From planning through delivery and handover, you'll implement robust frameworks, tools, and protocols to ensure consistency and excellence across the project lifecycle. Your initial focus will be on two strategically vital programs: Sustaining Capital and the Wyaralong Pipeline Interconnector, with scope to lead other major assignments within Seqwater's asset portfolio. Reporting to the Technical Director – Networks and working closely with Project Directors, this role offers the opportunity to influence outcomes that secure water for Southeast Queensland's future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and decision-making for major Seqwater pipeline projects, ensuring delivery meets objectives within timeframes.
  • Lead technical governance and assurance, including planning, design, delivery, and interaction with review panels and working groups.
  • Manage technical risk and compliance, incorporating safety-in-design principles and meeting all legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and service providers to deliver robust, sustainable engineering outcomes aligned with best practice.
  • Advise senior leadership and stakeholders on standards, technical risks, and strategies, while overseeing capital planning and complex project delivery.

You'll be at the helm of technical governance and engineering assurance for key Seqwater pipeline initiatives, guiding projects through strategic planning, design, delivery, handover, and ongoing operations and maintenance. A core part of your role will be to facilitate and lead collaboration between project teams and a Technical Review Panel—often comprising international experts in network engineering and related fields.

In addition, you'll champion technical engagement and decision-making across the business by leading Technical Working Groups and collaborating with stakeholders from various disciplines. You'll also direct and coordinate the efforts of Engineering Service Providers and other consultants, ensuring their expertise is harnessed to deliver outstanding project outcomes.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Engineering Credentials: Tertiary qualification in Engineering and eligibility for RPEQ registration, plus an unrestricted Class C driver's licence.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary technical teams, including staff supervision, work prioritisation, and meeting deadlines.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in planning and delivering technical outcomes for major water or civil infrastructure projects, with strong knowledge of safety-in-design principles and design process integration.
  • Regulatory & Management Skills: Deep understanding of Queensland and Australian standards, operational planning, budgeting, and application of value engineering, project management, and quality management principles.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: High-level interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills to engage senior leadership and external stakeholders on complex technical issues.

This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a permanent full time role.

Appointment to this role is subject to the provision of a national police check and may be subject to other medical/character requirements. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically deemed ineligible. Each application will be considered on its merits.
