About You:

Are you a seasoned Civil Engineer with deep roots in Townsville and a passion for urban development?

We are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join our Townsville team as the second-in-command to the General Manager. This is a rare opportunity to lead from the front, shape the future of our civil engineering practice, and make a tangible impact on the region you call home.

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years' experience in civil engineering, ideally with a background in urban development or infrastructure.
  • A grassroots engineer - someone who's worked their way up and understands the full project lifecycle.
  • A hands-on designer who can roll up their sleeves when needed and guide the team with technical expertise.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ties to the Townsville region - whether you're local or looking to return, we value your connection to the community.
  • Willingness to relocate? We're open to offering a relocation allowance for the right candidate (return of service applies).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and mentoring the civil engineering team.
  • Providing technical input and certification across a range of urban development projects.
  • Managing project resources, budgets, and timelines.
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development.
  • Supporting the General Manager in operational and strategic leadership.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or equivalent).
  • Professional accreditation (e.g. RPEQ, MIE Aust).
  • Proven experience in engineering design, project management, and team leadership.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 12D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and engineering legislation.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial acumen and experience in client engagement and business development.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
