About the opportunity
A psychologist is a senior member of the Community Plus team. Community Plus is a program of Mercy Mental Health (MMH) that provides direct clinical and partnership services. Direct clinical services involve assertive outreach engagement within extended hours to support increased access for adults years old) with severe mental illness and complex needs. Community Plus is informed by a therapeutic inter-professional service model. Each client works with a primary case manager, but has an access to additional support as required from other clinicians, including medical staff, clinical psychologists, family therapist and peer workers. The partnership services include specialist consultation (direct and secondary), liaison and inputs aimed at augmenting the care provided by other MMH teams as required.
As a Senior Psychologist you are expected to:
- The Clinical Psychologist's role contributes to the multidisciplinary management/treatment of clients in the community through providing specialized discipline specific input, as direct and secondary consultation, in the form of comprehensive psychological assessments, report writing, and individual and group intervention.
- The Clinical Psychologist, in consultation with the Multidisciplinary team, provides psychoeducation and practical strategies to the families and other external stakeholders involved in the care of the clients, as required.
- The Clinical Psychologist works in collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders in client care related matters, including discharge planning and increasing independence. The Clinical Psychologist works closely with the MMH Senior Clinical Psychologist in activities related to developing and improving the quality of service.
- This role supervisors Grade 2 Psychologists as required and leads the process of improving psychological input in multidisciplinary management of clients.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Registered with AHPRA as a Psychologist with endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Relevant post graduate qualification and AHPRA endorsement as a supervisor
- Training and experience in specialized psychological interventions, such as ACT, DBT, and trauma informed interventions.
- Experience in conducting psychological assessment of complex presentations and in providing treatment to clients with multiple complicated problems as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated clinical competency in mental status and risk assessment and the ability to prioritise workload and coordinate clinical care.
- Ability to prioritise workload and coordinate clinical care with other service providers.
- Ability to provide quality mental health and discipline specific, client-centred assessment and treatment in the context of a holistic framework and in a multi-disciplinary team setting
- Ability to facilitate the appropriate clinical care coordination of people with a mental illness within the team
- Ability to work co-operatively and effectively with other internal and external programs/organisations
- Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
- A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
- The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrates strong professional values, proven ability to work within the scope of clinical practice and ability to adhere to professional code of conduct.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
