About the Role

Azuma is a leading fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the heart of Sydney's CBD. We are currently seeking a professional and service-driven Restaurant Supervisor to support daily operations and oversee our front-of-house casual staff team.

In this key role, you will be responsible for ensuring service excellence, assisting to manage shift rosters, and maintaining a high standard of team performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong hospitality background and demonstrate leadership in fast-paced, high-end dining environments.

An understanding of Japanese language and culture is highly regarded, as it enhances our ability to deliver an authentic guest experience aligned with the restaurant's values and heritage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise casual front-of-house staff during service periods.
  • Coordinate shift rosters and adjust staffing based on operational requirements.
  • Oversee staff attendance, timesheets, and adherence to workplace policies.
  • Deliver high standards of guest service in line with Azuma's fine dining expectations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during service, addressing customer queries and concerns professionally.
  • Ensure front-of-house areas meet hygiene, safety, and presentation standards at all times.
  • Work closely with senior management and kitchen leadership to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Provide coaching and support to new and existing casual team members.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 1 years of experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a fine dining or high-end hospitality environment.
  • Experience managing rosters, scheduling casual staff, and adapting to service demands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a calm and professional demeanor under pressure.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and rostering tools (e.g., Deputy, Tanda).
  • Availability to work evenings from Tuesday to Saturdays.
  • An understanding of Japanese language and culture is preferred, particularly in the context of hospitality service.
